Using Pleco Dictionaries in Apple’s iOS Books app

Try this for your text section:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Style-Type" content="text/css">
<style type="text/css">
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px}
span.s1 {font-family: 'Helvetica'; font-weight: normal; font-style: normal; font-size: 60.00px}
<span class="s1">Shortcut Input</span>
set your font-size to whatever size makes you happy.

Hello David,

this looks like an iOS bug; people on Reddit have experienced the same thing. I would try updating your device to iOS 13.3 if you haven't done so yet. (iOS 13.3 has been working fine on my device so far.)

If that doesn't help, you could try offloading and reinstalling the Shortcuts app. Following are the instructions from Reddit:
  1. Go to Settings > General > iPhone Storage.
  2. Scroll down in the list of apps to "Shortcuts"
  3. Tap on it, then select “Offload App” and confirm.
  4. After offloading is completed, tap on “Reinstall App”.
Offloading keeps the settings and shortcuts.

Good luck,

Shun, thanks, the offloading and reinstalling did not help. I am on the road so will wait for solid Wi-Fi to try the upgrade on my iPad, it works fine on my iPhone. Cheers, David 大卫

Hi David,

you're welcome! If the iOS update doesn't help, perhaps the next step might be deleting Shortcuts completely and reconfiguring it from scratch.

Cheers, Shun

The Apple Books version of Remembering Simplified Hanzi for the Mac and iOS has just been updated (as of March 14, 2020). It is a free upgrade. It appears to have kept all of my annotations. Cheers, David
