"Second chars on tap" stopped working

The dictionary no longer suggests the next character when I select the first one. Instead it continues to show its guesses for what I wrote. I'm not sure when this started, but I think it was a few months ago. I've tried toggling the setting, and uninstalling/reinstalling the app. Is there anything else I should try?

Thanks - do you see an option to re-download the enhanced handwriting add-on in "Add-ons" / "Purchased but not downloaded"? If so, download that and that should fix this.

Thanks for your help. I don't see a "Purchased but not downloaded" section under Add-ons, and I can't find the handwriting add-on in any of the lists either.
