Screen reader and WeChat not cooperating

I just got a new phone, and now get the notification when using the screen reader with WeChat "No readable text was found on this screen".

Previous phone was pleco 3.2.91, wechat 8.0.42
New phone is pleco 3.2.99, wechat 8.0.65

I've previously had this problem occur, and then it 'fix' itself, but I'm not sure what caused the problem/solution. Any advice?

Yeah, WeChat tends to mess with screen readers a lot - does it work better with the screen OCR option?

Well, screen ocr does work, but not ideal as it mismatches some more complex characters.

Any idea what settings might be causing this? I've had the same problem before that resolved itself after I changed something, but I can't remember what now!

Does screen OCR work more accurately if you turn on the experimental OCR algorithm in Settings / OCR?

The problem with WeChat is normally just that they're intermittently blocking screen readers. In apps that aren't blocking them, though, the screen reader can sometimes be un-stuck by scrolling text a bit - does that help any?
