Many of the Android applications can be installed, in particular Pleco ('Beta 7' and 'Beta 8').
As a reader software I use Cool Reader 3. To look unknown Chinese words, I copy them to the clipboard, open Pleco and look at the entry in one of it's dictionaries.

The only problem that I have with Pleco is to use cutom Chinese fonts. Even if I install them in the given location, the default Android font is still displayed.
I know that Pleco (as a lot of Ancroid applications as well) is not optimized for E-ink devices, but I can live with that.
In general: Pleco for Android Beta 8 is close to release. Gread job!

OCR not usable with betaversion because of rather bad camera (no autofocus, so writing has to be far away and very big), also software for barcoderecognition not working in most cases

My Palm Zire 72 died on me last week so I finally have a valid reason to spend cash on a shiny Android phone :D I was just wondering if you could point out any pros/cons of running Pleco on the Chacha vs the more common portrait devices that don't have a hardware keyboard.

I once owned a Palm Treo 680 and typing was very accurate so I probably would enjoy the keyboard. I had a play with a Chacha at a local shop and the keyboard felt great, but I am a bit concerned about 1) screen size and 2) software support in general (not just Pleco). Your input will be very helpful!
