Problem Using Treo 650 in Beijing

Hi,

I am trying to use a China Mobile SIM card (m-zone) here in Beijing with my Treo 650 (also purchased here). The phone searches for network connection but hangs until it freezes. The SIM card works in other phones, and a different, older SIM card (a China Mobile worker had one and they "don't make them anymore) worked in the Treo. The worker's explanation was that the new cards use "ISTK."

Any ideas?

Is your Treo running the latest firmware version? See http://www.palm.com/us/support/downloads/treo650updater/ for instructions and updaters. I remember some people had similar problems with some Cingular SIM cards shortly after the 650 was released, but I believe they fixed those in a firmware update.

You could also consider asking this question at http://discussion.treocentral.com/ - they're a big, Treo-specific discussion board and I know there are a bunch of people on there using Treos in China.
