We actually just now managed to fix this; hadn't thought to test it with "reveal fields separately" but with that enabled the problem immediately appeared. Thanks for the persistent reminders :D

pleco dict with cjkos

Mike,

now i use plecodict and penpower with clie th55. do u know what character i got to write most? it is "backspace". obviously, users with penpower will agree with me because with penpower and 320x480 screen res, when i write wrong characters and got to write backspace. penpower seems not very good to recognize backspace and take long time. very hassle to pull up the graffiti area and write backspace.

For the next update, is it possible to implement a backspace button as an option?

thanks for your great job.

There already is one in the onscreen handwriting recognizer (when it's not in full-screen mode) - it's the little eraser with a left-pointing arrow above it. I suppose we could add this to the full-screen version as well, but I'm worried that it might crowd out the actual character choices... perhaps we could make it an option, but I don't think we have time to do this for 1.0.

We tried to reproduce this here on a Treo 600 but were unable to do so - are you still using a Treo or have you switched to another model? How exactly do you have your flashcard session configured? (we tried it with Pinyin set to reveal first and the problem still didn't happen) Are you running any unusual third-party software? Is this a GSM or CDMA Treo?

Mike - let me try and answer your questions:

1) Yes, I'm still using the treo 600
2) I have tested all the configurations and still have the same problem. The only setting which solves the problem is to UNCHECK "Reveal Fields Separately"
3) No usual 3rd party software and its on the Verizon network which I guess is CDMA...

Anyway, I'm sure the info in point # 2 above should give you the info you need to pinpoint the bug. What do you think? Let me know if I can provide any further info.

Thanks!

K.

Great, I compared Beta 3 to 1.0 with those settings and we've definitely fixed the problem now. Thanks for the follow-up.

Not sure if this one has been reported, but the last couple days I have had it happen to me twice.

When starting Pleco Dict, I get a lock up, and a dialog saying:
MemoryMgr.c line: 2621
Chunk over-locked

This is on a T/e with about 2.8m of free memory.

....looking forward to 1.0 coming out on Monday, but not looking forward to losing the history on my flashcards.....just goes to show how much I have enjoyed using the betas

This is related to Instant Access, so if you turn that off it should stop the crash. (which would normally appear every 15 or 16 times you run PlecoDict) We've corrected the problem in 1.0.

But you needn't worry about losing your flashcards; 1.0 uses the same data file format as Betas 2 and 3, so your flashcards should be preserved.

That is nice that the lock up is fixed in 1.0 ..... I'm excited about the release. Just today I was telling someone that buying a T/e is worth the cost for PlecoDict alone. =)

I wasn't too concerned about losing the cards, due to the ability to move them along in all the betas, but I will miss the accumulated testing history that the cards have gained.....unless this information will also move along....because I don't see where this is an option to export this information.

Either way, I have been very happy with the product, and am looking forward to switching over to 1.0....and of course the big surprise.

There's no import/export required, actually, since 1.0 uses the same data files as Beta 2/3. So as long as you keep a copy of your PlecoDict Flashcard Database file around, the testing history and everything else will be preserved.

And thanks!

That's a beautiful thing.....I guess I still need to go review my cards for today since the history will transfer over.....that was my lame excuse for today
