Pleco for Android 3.1.7/8

Tried on both the Asus TF 101 and the nexus 5. Just to be sure I'm doing this right, the setting I use is in live video OCR. Then I set it to Always portrait , in screen orientation.

Reproduced - seems to be broken on all devices, actually. But since it took 2 months before this first report came in, we're actually just going to remove it altogether, along with "compatibility mode" (which relied on it, and therefore was also broken for the last 2 months). Both of them were a relic of the early Android 2.x days when OEMs didn't bother to test their camera drivers very well, but in the age of abundant third-party camera apps that's no longer a problem, and keeping it in just creates a lot of needless user confusion.

Ok. I currently have my device set to not auto rotate and thus circumvent the problem. the main issue for me is that the OCR results clear when it rotates. so if I lay the phone down after recognizing something it often rotates the screen and clears the results. i would prefer to keep auto rotation enabled though, so a fix for this would be appreciated.

I've got 3.1.9 now and I'm geting numerous flash category crashes. I can't change the catagory for a test. Nor can I Chang the default category to add a card.

Seeing those here, but they seem to be confined exclusively to your device at the moment - no other reports of the same crash - and from the crash itself it looks like this might be a case of a corrupted flashcard database file; could you email me a backup of your flashcard database?

just mailed it to you. since i couldn't use my flash cards i tried reverting back to 3.1.8. i backed up my database first ( the same file i just emailed to you) and the removed 3.1.9 and installed 3.1.8 and then restored the database. It works just fine in the older version.

Do you also notice that some of your categories are missing in the older version? 3.1.9 did a better job of recovering when it encountered corrupted category data - would keep loading the rest of the category list instead of just stopping - but that also could bring out crashes in a case like this where there were other problems in the database.

no i hadn't noticed. But some times during a test it would skip a card with a message that the entry was incomplete.

I don't know if this is since 3.1.9 or 3.1.8 but the TTS voice does no longer make breaks at commas or a period. It just goes on and it sounds really weired in a sentence.
Odd thing is: it does work fine with the text reader but sentences in cards are kind of messed up.

Hello, I've been facing problem with the hangul field on unihan dictionaries, this field has been only blank since I updated to 3.x version. Did pleco removed this field?

Download DroidSansFallbackFull from this page (click the Raw button), then copy it to your phone, go into the Pleco "Settings" screen / "Fonts," and set it as your new Chinese font. Does that get the characters to appear again?

Also, check the Free tab in Add-ons and make sure Extended Unihan is downloaded.

I tried using that one but it appeared as boxes on my phone. But still I managed to find some random korean font and managed to show them up on my phone :) thanks :D

Analyzing my flashcards with Excel I found several characters created long ago which now have an english definition (I normally use custom cards with German definitions). I was asked to "Restore previous custom definition". What has happened? I never saw this message. Can I find out with Pleco how to change all those somehow changed definitions or do I need a database manager?

When you remap a card with a custom definition to a dictionary entry we leave behind the custom definition hidden; we started doing that after way too many people reported accidentally deleting definitions they'd spent a lot of time working on.

Try doing a "search cards" for cards where the dictionary is whatever dictionary these cards are getting their definitions from (presumably the one that you remapped them to) - you can find / fix them from there.

After restoring flash database, flash statistics for the "Flashcards" shows "No cards found!". Statistics for each category seemingly working correctly.

That's odd - check the scorefile setting at the bottom of the screen, if you change it does that get the statistics to show correctly?
