Headword or definition graphics using other Unicode blocks

Is it possible to create a flashcard list / dictionary that uses codepoints from other unicode blocks to create symbols in the headword / definition section?

Using a text-editor to edit and then convert the code would allow users to build flashcard lists from Mahjong tiles, I Ching Hexagrams, Pa Gua Trigrams, and a wealth of other symbols (astrology, astronomy, science, chess, dice, musical notation, political symbols, recycling, religious symbols, warning signs, and weather etc.)
Is it a Pleco database question of handling the other code blocks, an input/import question or a font question of rendering them?

Mostly font rendering - might work OK on Android but not on iOS where we use our own private text layout engine for performance reasons. Supporting more emoji / symbols / etc is on our to-do list but might not happen for several more releases.
