Flashcards, Backtrack on iPad: Pleco Only Uses Half of the Available Screen Area

When I backtrack from the screen depicted in the first screenshot, I am seeing half of the screen empty as in the second image. Instead, I would expect the definition of the previous word to occupy the entire screen area. This happened on an iPad Pro (2020) with beta 34.
