Apple Pencil Glitch - First Stroke Disappears

While using Apple Pencil to write a character in the clip board, my initial stroke always disappears. I have to do the first stroke twice for every character. While not the end of the world it is annoying and wastes time.

When I use my finger this does not happen. Only with the pencil.

Is this a known glitch and is there a solution?

Does it help if you go into the system settings and turn off the "scribble" feature for Pencil? Unfortunately in some cases that will 'eat' a pen stroke entered into a keyboard view, and there isn't a whole lot we can do about it (though we have filed a bug report with Apple).
