After locking screen with Pleco in focus and unlocking after a period of time, Pleco freezes

I can't reliably reproduce it, but it occurs very frequently (I use Pleco daily, and it occurs at least once daily).

I will use Pleco (standard dictionary searches) and then lock my phone with Pleco in focus. I go about my day and after some time I'll reopen my phone to a frozen and unresponsive Pleco. Every time I'm forced to scroll down and close then reopen the app. Scrolling down and re-entering the frozen app does not unfreeze it, it has to be closed completely.

It doesn't produce crash logs since it doesn't actually crash, it's just completely frozen and unresponsive. It's been the case for several versions (I'm currently on 3.99.1.31.2), and I'm using an iPhone 15 Pro Max on iOS 18.0.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Any chance iCloud sync is turned on in Settings / Flashcards? If so, does the problem go away if you turn it off? Or, taking that to a greater extreme, if you go into the system Settings app, Apps, Pleco and turn on 'fix startup freezes' (which disables all iCloud-related features)?

I can't see any of those settings you mentioned? I only found the below which I changed to only save on my phone instead of iCloud, although I'm not sure whether that'll have any effect. I'll post again if it keeps happening or not.
