1. When I export a flashcard list, some of the entries are exported with an asterisk at the end, like 肄业 yi4ye4*. I thought at first that that might symbolise a situation where a tone was optionally neutral, but after looking in the Cotemporary Chinese Dictionary I don't think that is the case. What is the asterisk for? And while I am at it, I think it very unlikely, but is there a way of exporting not just a list of Chinese words and their pinyin, but the translations too?

2. In my palm menu, there are some shortcut keys indicated, eg to Manage Flashcards it shows a funny symbol (like a / with a blob at the bottom left hand) followed by an M. What does that mean? That I need to write the M with graffiti? Or press a key at the same time as M or what?

1. The asterisk is just a notation used in the ABC dictionary to indicate that a particular word is the most commonly-used word with that particular Pinyin, WITHOUT regard to tones - in other words, if you see Pinyin without tone marks on a sign or hear a word and aren't sure about the tones, look for the word with the asterisk and that's most likely the right one.

Oh, and there's no way of exporting definitions along with words - it's a copy-protection issue for some of our licensing partners.

2. That's actually the Palm OS shortcut stroke; basically you draw a diagonal line from the bottom-right to the top-left corner of the Graffiti input box, then enter that letter to access the menu command.
