Why is iOS behind android

Noticed my friends version is 3.2.97, but apples latest is 3.2.76, there are noticeable changes to his looking modern and my version looks like it’s from 2010, how come the iOS version is not up to date like android?

The minor version numbers are not equivalent between platforms - both apps are equally up to date, and were redesigned at the same time. Maybe you just like the look of the Android UI better?
