Spaced Repetition eliminates "test writing" test type?

When I switch from the "Simple" profile to "Spaced Repetition" and begin test session, I am shown the Chinese characters. I would like to test my writing, i.e. show English definition and then reveal Chinese characters and pinyin.

In "Simple", I am given the option to enable test writing, reading or listening. In "Spaced repetition" this disappears. Why is this? And how can I solve my problem?

Go into "Test Settings" and set "Subject Selection" so "Alternating" - that will give you back that option.

Oh my god thanks Mike 皇帝！I don't really know why this option is called "alternating" (or why anyone would want to disable having these options) but I guess if it works it works.

I have rewarded you by posting another insanely long post on My Struggles With SRS. Any help much appreciated.
