Will updates be available for registered buyers for life?
Not necessarily - we've given out free updates for all of our major updates so far (except that with the PlecoDict release we left out the Hanwang handwriting recognizer and limited free upgraders to the older Motorola one), but it's possible that some future update might incorporate licensed content or other new material that required us to charge an upgrade fee. Or there might be other reasons why we'd need to charge for an update, for example if new product sales for one platform dropped to such a low level that we could no longer justify producing updates on the basis of those alone.
