For what I'm using this for i.e. learning flashcards, the 4.0 default settings seem to work a lot better, and I'm no longer wondering if I'm learning new words in a sub-optimal way. I still don't understand the methodology for the default settings like what kinds of cards are pulled (I'm just using a "Learning") but I'm just doing it and not questioning it. Even some of the "basic settings" seem advanced to me, like I don't understand what "simple" vs "2-phase" are but I"m using 2-phase. I understand that this is a very hard problem to solve i.e. making the settings intuitive while also giving user a lot of control.
2. I like the new stroke tab display a lot more. Makes it much easier to quickly learn strokes for a word with multiple characters
3. The example sentences are usually too hard for me to understand and incorporate (I'm L3). That might just be data from the dictionary, though.
