Palm TX Screen/software Problem

While trying to improve the accuracy of my pointing device by going to -->Preferences ---> Digitizer (tap the target) I somehow got in a loop where the screen doesn't read anything that I do with the pointing device. In fact I can't get out of the "tap the target" window without a soft reset.

When I do a soft reset I can access the rest of the Palm, including the Plecodict, but no screen reading, I have to do everything with the buttons--

Can anyone help me with an idea of how to fix this problem, and whether they think it is a software or hardware problem? (I haven't done a full/hard reset because I don't want to lose all my saved flashcards--will do if necessary)

Background: I purchased the Palm one year ago in Shanghai without a warranty, and was never able to get the Bluetooth/Wireless capabilities working (not very important to me anyway). Recently (several months) I have also had trouble with the cable hotsynch. Since I basically just use the dictionary, I didn't bother addressing that issue before now.

I had very similar problems in the past with my Palm Tungsten E2. I found 2 solutions, one not very nice but free, the other good but cost money.

The free one, I found out a way to finish thee loop in Digitizer. It is not point to match the target on screen, if not (in my case) a little down of the up-left and centre targets, like to compensate the lack of accuracy. It is not easy and require many tries. After finish the loop, I could use the screen but not accuracy. I just got used to tap compensating it. I also can say that I took to repair (in warranty) but soon later appeared the same problem.

The other solution, and now my tapping experience is about ideal, it is using the software PowerDiGi from PalmPowerups, that do much better job for the accuracy of the screen that the default one. You can try it for free for few days to check by yourself if it is a solution for you as it did for me, but to keep using, later need to be bought.
