Palm Tungsten E2?

Does anyone have any experience with this Palm? I've been hearing that for some people, they've been having problems with it once the warranty expires, but I wanted to get some added feedback. I'm having a tough time finding a middle of the range palm that isn't a smartphone. Thoughts?

I can't help you with that model but want to mention an alternative to consider.

After using a TX and a LifeDrive, I've downgraded to a second hand Zire72. It's an older model with a smaller screen and a bit less memory, but it's still OS5.x and high resolution 320x320, has all of the features of the more fancy models (except wifi), plays my lesson podcasts, takes low res photos and videos (handy for chinese signs, book pages), fits in my pocket without making it sag, can use an SDCard up to 2mb, pretty stable, and runs Pleco nicely.

You can pick these up very cheaply second hand (try ebay?), because the blue paint peels off after a few weeks use and they look disgusting, nobody would even want to steal it! Yet behind the yuck they're often as new. Cheap enough to try and throw away if you want something better, so you have nothing to lose. Get a hard case for peace of mind if possible, and you won't notice its chewed appearance much.

Maybe I'm odd, but my expensive fancy TX lies idle while I use this versatile little gem constantly. Not just any zire, it's gotta be the z72.

Sweet, thanks for the feedback! I'm gonna take a look now. What's the battery life and size/weight like on the zire? Are you by any chance interested in selling the TX? I was looking for one but couldn't find anything available.

No, I'll hang onto the TX because I have no TV or DVD player, so occasionally I use its wide screen to watch a converted Chinese movie. If you can afford a TX, new or second hand, you'll get more types of use out of it than the E2, but you still won't have a camera or voice recorder, even with the TX.

As for battery life on the Zire72, I have no idea, I charge nightly and use it on and off through the day, including some mp3 playing. In theory a smaller screen should use less battery, but battery capacities vary, and I've noticed that using the camera/video seems to chew it up quicker than normal use does, but I've voice-recorded 1-2hr conversations without any trouble. For long trips I just take a second Zire72, which is less weight and easier than using a charger. :)

A google search should bring up several (ancient) reviews, with the specs. But if you can pick one up to try for well under $100, those details might not be so important.
