Oxford Dict 2.03 on TREO 600

Hello Folks,

I know that discussions related to the older Oxford Dictionary seem to be terminated but I am trying to install the old Oxford Dict 2.03 that I used to run on my PALM 3C (some years ago) on a newly acquired Treo 600.

Basically, I'm looking for something to tide me over in Chinese class (in Taiwan) until PLECO DICTIONARY 2.0 is released and I can mount it on my Treo 750 v.

I have managed to install the old 2.03 version on my Treo 600 but every time I try to change the Chinese to English (C>E) to English to Chinese (E>C) the device crashes and reboots.

I'm pretty sure I've installed everything correctly.

Again, this is just a stop-gap measure until I can score PLECO 2.0 but I do actually need the old Oxford Dict in the meantime for Chinese class.

I'm hoping there was a bug fix for this.

Thanks in advance.

That should have been fixed by the 2.1 update - log on to the My Orders page, scroll down all the way to the bottom and download oxec21.zip from there, then install the application file from that version to your Treo and that should hopefully be more stable for you.

But out of curiosity, why aren't you just installing your free upgrade version of PlecoDict 1.0.3? That should be considerably more stable than Oxford on your Treo. To get that upgrade, download/install PlecoDict Basic from this page, download your PlecoDict keyfile from the top of the My Orders page, install that keyfile to your Treo and tap on the PDUnlock icon in your Treo's application launcher screen to unlock it.

You could also switch your license over to the Pocket PC version of PlecoDict and run it on your 750v - you'd have to buy the $10 Hanwang Handwriting Recognizer upgrade to get handwriting recognition working on it, but the platform switch is free aside from that. Thanks to the recent bug-fix update it should be quite stable / usable on Windows Mobile 6.
