Old flashcards: EAB1 character isn't treated as a newline/space character

Currently, the old EAB1 character is rendered in the new font:

It would be nice to see just spaces or newlines instead.

There's actually a whole function that's supposed to turn those old formatting codes into Markdown, will have to investigate why it's not working.
