New New Forum Software

We've just updated PlecoForums to the latest (and much cooler-looking) version of phpBB, 3.0, in preparation for the expected increase in forum traffic with the release of 2.0 Beta 1. We'd originally been planning to move over to vBulletin instead, but after playing around with that for a few hours we decided to stick with phpBB.

Anyway, everything should have carried over seamlessly to the new version, but let me know if you have any problems - a few login passwords may have been screwed up by the conversion, in which case you should simply request a new password by e-mail and that new password should work correctly.

I sort of prefer the older forum... maybe it is just because I'm so used to it.

One of the things that I don't really like (or maybe I'm just not used to it) is that the handles appear on the right of the post whereas most forums have the handles appearing on the left of the post.

Oh, well you can easily get that back by changing your user settings - click on the User Control Panel link at the top of the page, go to the Board Preferences section and change your board style to "subsilver2" and that will put things pretty much back the way you expect them to be.

Very slick indeed! Looks much more professional! (Though admittedly, I too will have to get use to it, especially the handles being on the right as Imcjipo already mentioned).

If you follow Mike's instructions, the handles go back to the left which for me is the normal positioning of handles since most forums generally have the handles on the left (including the way Plecoforum used to have it).

I followed Mike's instructions and the handles on on the left now and I'm completely satisfied... well, not completely satisfied... I'll be completely satisfied when I can try Pleco 2.0
