juggling graffiti, character input and PenP

Hello, I'd like to hear how other people manage to use these three input methods together.

I have a Palm TX with the CJKOS which includes the PenP full-screen input method, but the included chinese character font looks really ugly when it appears in the Plecodict entry field, so I'd like to use the Plecodict character input.

The problem is that when the insertion point is flashing the screen is set up to recieve PenP input, so I have to tap on the screen every time I want to enter a character in the Plecodict character input box.

Well, it isn't really a big problem, but does anybody have a better suggestion?

For english/pinyin input I use the onscreen keyboard, which doesn't conflict with either of the other methods.

I hope that made sense! :(

I was surprised to accidentally find a fix for this 'problem'-

In prefs/characters I changed the encoding to UTF-8 and turned off the input field compatibility.

Now when I write on the screen penpal is ignored and I can write in English using the full-screen graffiti. I leave the pleco character input panel on at the bottom of the screen. When I am using other programs penpal works as usual.

Works great! I have no idea why! ;)
