Issue with handwriting search

Hello,
I've been using Pleco for a long time and I am very happy about it.
Anyway, since a few days I hit an issue with the handwriting search: strokes are partially drawn or not drawn at all.
Besides, the app becomes very slow and it's very difficult to delete the character and get back to the keyboard search.
I checked the touchscreen and it seems ok (works well in the rest of the operating system): I also tried to reset the os, remove the glass cover, unistall and reinstall the app.
Anyone having the same issue?

Not sure - if you're using Screen Reader does it help matters any if you turn that off? What brand/model of phone is this and where did you download Pleco from?

I am not using screen reader.
Issue persists by turning screen reader on and off.

Phone is:
ASUS_X008D
Android 7.0

I downloaded the package from the official play store, stock with the phone.

Hmm.... sounds like something could be going on the background, then. How about if you delete Pleco again, then reinstall it from our website instead by typing:

pleco.com/getandroid

in your phone's web browser? (it's possible it might be trying to connect to Play for some reason, e.g. checking for new purchases)

I uninstalled and reinstalled Pleco from the website but nothing changed.
I can reproduce the issue by scribbling in circles on the handwriting panel, canceling the guess and trying to draw a real hanzi: strangely enough, this problem does not occour if I switch to "night mode"!

Hmm, well that is odd - not really any changes between how things are rendered in day and night mode. If this was an OLED-based device + quite old I might guess that the power drain during daytime was forcing CPU throttling - an unlikely but not unheard-of scenario since they do use a lot more power when the screen is brighter - but on an LCD device like this, night versus day mode doesn't really affect power consumption at all.

Are you using a screen protector on your device? Does the problem persist with that off? (again kind of a stretch but maybe the heat from the display + friction from your finger are somehow distorting touchscreen sensitivity?)

If we had more reports of this we could try to investigate it as a software bug, but to be honest a single device isn't a lot to go on here - if it is a software problem hopefully we'll get more reports of it soon and be able to figure it out from there.

I removed the screen protector before resetting the phone (since I figured out it could be related to this problem) but no luck.
I am ok with the night mode on anyway.
Thank you very much!
