Inserting new lines when creating Pleco flashcards

Hello, I'd like to create flashcards on my computer for the Pleco flashcard system, but I can't figure out how to make new lines in the definition.

I could only find this thread from 2010 on the topic

but I couldn't figure it out (I tried inserting  in a XML file following the example of a response, but it was ignored as stated in the old thread. I don't understand the "try inserting it as a UTF-8 string instead").

So could someone explain to me how you create new lines in flashcards?
 
You can just copy and paste it from between these two quotation marks: "". Or find a text editor that lets you insert a custom Unicode code point - "insert character code" or some such; if you're on a Mac you can do that via the "Show Emoji & Symbols" command in the language / input method selector menu (do that, then just type EAB1 in the search box and the first symbol in the results will be that character code).
