Inconsistent Flashcards settings

Hello.
I have set the Flashcards as follows : spaced repetition, 5 cards, 2 categories,, fill-in-the-blancks, prompt for characters,, show definition, subject selection : simple (assuming that it means random), all ''test settings' boxes unscored, as well as Automaticallv play audio and Autoplay unchecked, ''scoring system'' : none. Card selection : repetition spaced, prompt to continue..
However, after a couple of tests, the system says that there are no more cards to review (but... I just started, with hundreds of cards to review...) and whatever i chose among "w/o dates" or "continue", the behavour becomes bizarre : either I get the same cars again and again, or parameters change, like the 3 ''scoring" boxes appears (I never set this parameter)....
This is not the first time that I patiently try and try again to find a proper, stable and funcitonal setting of my humble goal : an educational-like presentation of words to translate, with a logical presnetation of the ignored words, at the end of the test, and a presentation order in favour of the highest rate of errors on a given word (known words not or very seldom presented).
It did work for a while but the systems seems tohave an intelligent design of its own. Oh, and I just switched to a new phoe (but still the ultra-old but small and ligh Samsung A3 2017 with the obsolete Android 8.). ANyone can help to get a simple, non-erratic seeting for me, please ?
All other features of Pleco are so outstandingly effective that this particular puzzling component gets all the more frustrating - maybe my IQ is too low.

Sorry about that - the biggest flaw in our flashcard system at the moment is that we haven't done a great job of ensuring that settings are logically consistent, so it's really easy to accidentally configure things so that you end up with weird behavior like this.

Anyway the main problem here is that 'scoring system' is set to 'none' - if you do that with spaced repetition then the cards will never see their spacing change or even have their review dates recorded, so after you review each one once they'll never come up again. Switch it to 'automatic' and that should work better.

If you select Spaced Repetition as your profile, then go into Manage Profiles, Spaced Repetition, and tap 'reset profile settings,' that should give you the default set of settings again; if you leave those unchanged aside from picking which categories you want to study, that should hopefully get things to behave more sensibly.

(in the new version 4.0 we're beta testing on iOS we've stuck this old system in a 'legacy profile' option and the other profile types are much more streamlined)

Thank you indeed for your prompt response.
I tried what you say (spaced repetition, reste Profile settings, there is a choice of options : "Profile template", I chose "spaced repetition". Now, the systems again says "no more cards". But the app was downloaded only a few hours ago and I went through hardly a few cards. I tried ''w/o dates'', but now the Test type has unexpectedly switched to "Self-graded" !

Additional information. I saw that the ''reset to default'' meant that I have to manually adjust parameters to my preferences. No problem, I did it. But how can I avoid having the same cards presented again and again... and, instead, have them presented, as logical, less often if known and vice-versa ...?

Sorry about that, I forgot to mention that you also need to reset your card scores - go into Scoring, Manage Scorefiles, Default, Reset Scores. The combination of that plus resetting to the spaced repetition defaults should get it back onto a sensible "review cards at gradually increasing intervals" behavior; just make sure to change as few other parameters as possible.

Thank you for you useful advice. It seems to work.
One more question : on the definition screen, it is possible to add the current word to a flashcard category. How can I change the "Default setting"? In "Flashcards/Catehories, it seems to be hard-coded...? When I tap on it, it show the categories, but nothing happens if I try to select another one ?

If you long press the + button, it will pop up a menu to select a category for the new card - this will become the default until you do that again.
