Flash card confusion

I have recently started using 4.0, and have been mostly playing with the flashcards.

I made a “Simple” flashcard profile, thinking that was the standard, but now only after I’ve done thousands of reviews I’m realizing that it doesn’t have the functionality I need. I have a large HSK deck that has thousands of ”new” cards, and I feel like on each 100 card test I am being introduced to 20 or 30 new cards, and not being tested enough on the ones introduced in previous tests. It wasn’t like this originally, but for some reason over time I have started being introduced to more new cards per test.

I saw there was the option to convert to a custom profile, but I tried that on a duplicated profile and I couldn’t figure out how to control how many new cards are introduced per test. I’m sure there is a way, I just can’t figure it out. If anyone has any pointers on how I can implement a limit to how many new cards are introduced per test please let me know. Thanks!

For this, I'm afraid you'd need to start a new "Learning" profile - there's no way to add this sort of new card management into 'simple.'

If you set 'cards from' in a learning profile to 'new card queue,' you should see options in there to introduce new cards based on their status in a different profile, so you could make the first item in the queue 'cards that I have already reviewed in my simple profile' and then add the rest of your HSK deck in a second queue item.
