I know that the team is pretty far into the process but I want to throw this out there anyway.

I recently upgraded to an iPhone 17 and it has this curious thing called an action button. I think it would be so cool if I could push that action button get prompted to speak, say something in Mandarin, or in English and have Pleco do the look up and ask to create a card.

Button free card card creation, or look ups would be the coolest thing since the invention of the slide rule (in my humble opinion).

Or even if it would just do some kind of audio capture and transcription, and then automatically create sentence cards for it. There are so many times where I see something in the wild and I realize I don’t know what it’s called, but I don’t have time to pull my phone out unlock it and fool with it for minutes.

This is theoretically possible but I think I need to have a clearer idea what it would look like functionality-wise first - seems like it would need translation support, among other things, which we've taken tentative steps towards adding in the latest beta but currently only one word at a time (and with an alert) since their system tends to crash if you send translations to it too often or in the wrong way. (also that's a level of functionality we can already offer for free on Android with its built-in translator)

You might actually be able to rig up something like this now with Shortcuts and a call to bring up Pleco with a search URI - have you taken a look at that?
