Extended flashcard games

Hi!

I recently bought Pleco and I am happy to say that I don't regret
having spent the $120 :) It's really a great program! Thank you!

With this post I just want to say that the improved flashcard features
(and games) planned for 2.0 are much anticipated (at least by me)!
Please don't forget about them!!! :D Especially a feature where you get to
write the word would be cool and even if you use the HWR I don't think it
would lead to "cheating", if you compared what the user wrote to the
correct char but didn't display the choices :) In the past I've used Dragon
Character Training to practise hand-writing and something like that would
imho be enough.

Thanks in advance!

/Martin

ps. It seems I'm not the only one who likes Pleco...
The other day while having lunch I briefly showed it to a friend of mine.
Later the same day he called me, saying:
"Hey man... You know the palm?"
"yea?"
"I want one." ;D

**UPDATE**
When I wrote this I had not yet discovered the Test settings -> Test option, making it possible to only display the pinyin + def and then write the character. Sorry. There are just so many options in there, hard to find the right one :D With that option I'm already 85% or so satisfied. But still, something that corrected your stroke order and told you automatically if it was right or wrong would be cool. :)

Thanks again for a great product!

Thanks for the suggestion - new flashcard features are still high up on the priority list for 2.0, we know the flashcard system is one of our product's most popular features and we certainly don't want to shortchange it in the new update. A stroke order test feature is definitely something we're looking at - if we can't get it working accurately with strokes that you draw yourself then at a minimum we should be able to show you an outline of a character and require that you tap on strokes in the correct order. We've also got some nifty ideas for integrating the flashcard system with the (vast) database of audio samples we've been compiling, to test people on their listening abilities.
