download directly to pocket pc

Sorry if this topic's been covered before but I couldn't find any info.

Is it possible to download and install Pleco directly to my pocket pc if it is connected to the internet with Wi-Fi? I remember last time there were quite a few steps involved installing pleco using my laptop computer and the hotsync function and I needed to try a few times before I got it to work so would like to avoid that this time if possible.

My old pocket pc has almost died now so I have bought a new one with WM6 and would like to reinstall pleco on the new device.

Possible, yes; you just need a utility that can open a zip archive (I think there are a couple of free ones if you browse around) and a file manager that doesn't hide .dlls like the built-in File Explorer does. (Resco Explorer, for example)

Once you've got those two things, download the "Manual Install" of PlecoDict directly to your Pocket PC, extract its contents to a folder and consult the instruction manual's manual install steps for info on where to put the files.

Having said all of that, honestly you'll probably still have an easier time using the automated installer; particularly if you only install one item at a time (i.e., start the installer, check only the ABC Dictionary box in the first screen, finish the install, repeat again for each other item) it's unlikely you'd run into any problems with the install procedure on a new Pocket PC model.

I agree with Mike completely.

The install wizard on the new pocket PC's is a sinch to use! Now that Active Sync has been updated it is really simple to install programs on your pocket PC from your computer.

Good luck!
