Dictionary Error Reports

I don't know if these can be corrected and they don't really hinder the use of teh program at all. I have found two errors in the ABC dictionary.
1. 而且 (erqie) - The example sentence needs the "~" that should replace 而且.

2. 挤 (ji) - The sentence in characters has an extra character. The pinyin is correct.

Thanks for these. Not a lot we can do about them except collect them and pass them on to the ABC project at some point (though they've probably already found/fixed them by now), but good to know about them anyway.

Error Reporting to Wenlin

I sent the errors mentioned above directly to Wenlin (which I also use) and they were very quick to write back and say that one of the errors was already fixed and they will now fix the other in the master file. I used the email support@wenlin.com but they replied from wenlin@wenlin.com. I am guessing either is ok.

This would be a way for error reports to be made.

Do you know if these changes will eventually be reflected in the PlecoDict version of ABC?

That's probably the best thing to do, yes - they're the ones who maintain the database, not us.

And we do have the right to future versions of the ABC database, but we don't want to put Wenlin through the hassle of sending us frequent update CDs (or ourselves through the hassle of applying those updates to our own version, which already contains a number of changes/corrections from theirs), so we probably won't be updating it very often.

ADS error

Is it useful to report errors in teh ADS dictionary? If not that is fine. I just wanted to check.

看不见的手 should have the pinyin kanbujiandeshou, but they left out the de (kanbujianshou).

(The only reason I came accross this error is that one of my old flashcards "看不见" came back and brought it up since it had linked incorrectly.)

Actually you can submit those changes right on their website: http://www.adsotrans.com/, click on the 'dictionary' link, search for the term in question, and use the update command to update their database with the correct Pinyin.

Are error reports in the Oxford dictionary useful

I dont' know if errors in the Oxford dict are easily correctable or not or are useful for reporting, but under:

偏 (pian1)

there is the phrase: "move to noe side" - "one" is spelled incorrectly

This one looks like it's our fault, so we should be able to correct it the next time we update the Oxford database. Thanks.
