Default DB Creation

I have Pleco installed to my LifeDrive with PlecoDict, Hanwang Lib, and HWR DB all installed to my Internal RAM. My other files, dictionaries, etc. are installed to my LD HD. Every time I start up Pleco it automatically creates a Flashcard DB and a User DB C-E on my Internal RAM. This happens even if I have my Flashcard DB already installed on the HD. If I delete the Flashcard DB and the User DB C-E from my Internal, the next time I launch Pleco they are created again.

I'm not even sure I know what the User DB is. I assume it is the repository for user created entries?

I've scanned the user manual and the forums some but didn't immediately see anything related to these two files. I don't currently use Flashcards or create entries directly from Pleco. As such I don't really need either of these databases. Neither one is of significant size, so I also don't really care that they are there, just found the behavior a bit odd. Then again, maybe I'm odd and the behavior is normal.

Yes, the User DB is indeed for user-created dictionary entries. Unfortunately, there's no way to prevent PlecoDict from creating these two databases - we realize a small number of people might not want to use them, but we feel the consequences of making them optional (in terms of support time, confused users, etc) outweigh the small memory savings from leaving them out.

Agree, not worth the trouble

Mike -

Agree, not worth the trouble given the minimal size, even if a person isn't using them. My initial quandary came primarily in trying to move them off of my Internal to my HD and they kept popping up back in my Internal. Was also interesting to note that once I moved the User DB to my HD, and Pleco created a new User DB back in my Internal, Pleco would then recognize the two User DB's in both locations.
