I've been using the clipboard reader extensively over the past few days. I have mainly been utilizing the Universal Clipboard (Handoff/Continuity) function copying from my laptop to my phone.
At first the refresh button seemed to keep up fairly well, every time I copied something new it was ready to go and worked almost instantaneously.
After a couple of days though it kept appearing greyed out:
I could "x"-out and come back in to the clipboard reader and the text would paste automatically. It doesn't appear as if functionality stopped working, but it does seem that it wasn't triggering without prompt.
Not sure if this is a Pleco issue even.
