when i click the button to change the character set from simplified to traditional, i get this error:

Character File Not Installed
the character set cannot be changed because the character set converter database (CharConvert.pdb) is not installed

but i've already installed this file on my palm

thanks

If the file is installed then the character set converter should work - are you certain that you installed the file correctly? Were there any error messages when you HotSynced your Palm with your PC? Have all of the other PlecoDict data files installed correctly?

which other files are necessary to switch to traditional characters? as far as i know everything installed correctly and i haven't had any other problems besides this one.

thanks

The only one you need is the character set converter. Until recently the "automated installer" didn't install that file by default, but we changed it about a week ago since we'd gotten a lot of messages like this and it's not a very big file anyway.

So if you used the automated installer, run it again, and when you get to the file selection screen, press the Clear All button and then select only the "Character Set Converter" file. If you installed PlecoDict manually, install the file "CharConvert.pdb" from the "Text Converters" folder. Assuming the file installs successfully, that should enable traditional characters.

thanks! it worked. it seems that when i tried installing the file manually it didn't work but using the automated install did the trick.
