Backup Error

I'm consistently getting an error when backing up my Tungsten E. The message reads:

-- Backing up db PlecoDict Flashcards to file D:\Program Files\palmOne\myname\Backup\PlecoDict_Flashcards.PDB
System synchronization failed
Protocol Error: Too many files. (4403)

Can anyone give me any insights as to how to fix this?

That's an odd one... have you made any use of the flashcard system? What about Instant Access? Any strange errors while using PlecoDict?

Soft-reset your Palm (press in the reset pin in the back) and that should clear up this problem and allow the flashcard file to sync correctly.

I did a soft reset and got the error message on the next try. Rebooted my computer, did another soft reset and the error occurred again. And again another time. On the third try (soft reset, reboot) it occurred again, but that time with a non-Pleco file. The fourth time I synch'd the message did not appear and has not re-occurred since. It's a mystery.

Strange... I can't think of any normal Palm OS phenomenon that might cause this, perhaps some strange bug that's only triggered by a particular memory block arrangement (the Palm OS compacts its storage memory on a soft reset, so things can get moved around then). Aside from that it's pretty much a complete mystery... maybe one of those pesky computer ghosts
