tone colours in reader

To help us learn our tones when reading:

When a word is highlighted in the reader, the characters are coloured in 'in line' along with the tones given for the first definition in the bubble.

This would allow us to be quickly reminded of the tones without checking the definition.

what do you think?

That would be easy in some places (plaintext / clipboard) and nigh-on impossible in others (PDFs) - we eventually plan to support coloring the entire document in places where that can be done without an insane amount of engineering work (aside from the work needed to do a reasonably accurate job of sorting out 多音字) but even just coloring the currently highlighted word would be a challenge in some places.

I guess I was only thinking of the plain text stuff. I imagine my idea would be a lot easier to implement than full colouring.

plus- I think full colouring might detract from the reading experience.

I'd just like the chance to check my tones without moving my eyes from where I'm reading.
