Flashcard could not be created because flashcard file could not be accessed.

I get the following error message when I try to save a new item into flashcards:

Flashcard Failure
Sorry, the flashcard could not be created because your flashcard file could not be accessed. please exit and reopen Pleco and try again.

Reopen Pleco nor rebooting nor re-installing Pleco does not fix problem.

Using Pleco version 3.2.38

Most common reason for that is a file access privileges issue - go into the system Settings app / Applications and make sure that Pleco has permission to access your device's storage.

If that doesn't help, use a file manager utility to go into /Android/data/com.pleco.chinesesystem/files/databases and move your flashcard database to /Documents, then reboot your phone, reopen Pleco, go to Import/Export and restore your flashcard database from that file in Documents.
