Lyrics Reader: Can't find "Podcasts" section in music picker

On my iPhone (iOS 8.4, Pleco 3.2.6) I added a podcast in the Podcasts app. I'm trying to open it in the Lyrics Reader, but I'm not seeing a "Podcasts" section in the music picker. How do I add podcast episodes? Am I missing something? Thanks!

Apple pretty much cut off third party apps' access to the system podcast library entirely in 8.4, so the only way to load podcasts into the Lyrics Reader at the moment would be to re-tag them so that iTunes thinks they're music files instead. (edit their info in iTunes on your computer so they look like music files, then sync them)

In our next update we'll be adding the ability to open MP3 files directly in the document reader (so you'd load your files into Pleco's file storage instead of your iPhone's and queue them up as if they were EPUBs), but until then re-tagging is about the only option.

Awesome! Thanks for the quick reply, Mike. Your workaround fixed my problem. The lyrics reader is really great! Apple not so much ...

Well I can't entirely blame them for moving in this direction - podcasts and music aren't exactly the same sort of content - but as with a number of other things recently they could have handled the transition a lot better; at the very least they should have added a dedicated podcast library to iTunes.

Sorry I didn't see this until now. Anyway, I believe all you need to do is open up iTunes, go into My Music, right-click on a track, choose Get Info, and change its genre to something other than "Podcast."

No worries, Mike! Thanks a lot. I'll give it a try... after holidays. With my iPad, its screen size, I find it very straightforward to listen and, at the same time, read a Chinese text with Pleco (may be that's what is known as "podcast"). As I said, I'll give it a go. Thanks again. Have a nice summer&winter all of you.

Hi, Mike. Any approximate date for the next update?

Hoping to submit it as soon as iOS 9 goes GM - tentative plan now is that it'll be another 3.2.x-with-a-lot-of-iOS-specific-features, like the update we just released on Android.
