Syncing chinese Contacts - Palm Encoding Setup

Hi guys,

I just stumbled across a very useful looking software for synchronizing with Palm Desktop:

Should be able to solve all these garbage charcaters problem.
Unfortunately it's just for Mac OS! :(
Maybe it's useful for someone..
But - even more important - does anybody know sth like this for Windows?

Another thing - I found somethere in this forum an link to a software called ChineseMate (“通讯录伴侣”), http://www.waterok.com/bbs/thread-1195-1-1.html, should enable proper chinese contact searching on Treo. But I can't download it without registration in some strange chinese forum. Anybody knows another download source?

wow, that was quite a task to register in that forum - my chinese is not that good. but - with some help of my plecodict - i mastered it! :lol:
but anyway - somebody knows how to get characters in the palm desktop application? :?:

and another one - sorry, maybe a newbie question: as cjkos is getting no more useful for me, i played around this it and found that very elementary words (手机 e.g.) are not in the database, i have to enter the characters seperatly after each other. Is that correct or do I have to install a special phraseset?? :shock:

If you bought your Treo with built-in CJKOS in China, it probably doesn't have the CJKOS phrase database in the ROM.

You have to go to the CJKOS website, download CJKOS, and then install the phrase database manually. See the readme file for which files to install.

For simplified Chinese, it's this one below:

I also wrote about "掌易" before which is the Chinese entry program many mainland users use. Since you spent so much effort registering at that website(!), you might as well try this one as well since it's on the same site. Hehe.

cool, i still haven't found out every detail about that piece of software, but it's so much better than CJKOS! just great!
i can really recommend it!

Great, you got "掌易" working. I learned about it when I posted a question about the missing CJKOS phrase database on a Chinese website. I was told that nobody uses the built-in CJKOS entry system in China. Everyone either uses "掌易" or "梅花" IME. Probably an exaggeration.
