New HSK Levels 1-6

Also about to be posted on the iOS browser portal page. This file is based on the Lingomi lists, cleaned up and reformatted for Pleco; levels are now distinct, so none of the 1 words are in 2, none of the 2 words are in 3, etc. All but two of the vocabulary words (桔子 and 唯独) are covered by the PLC dictionary (and we'll be adding those two the next time we revise it, of course), so the list only includes embedded definitions for those two and will use dictionary ones for all of the others.

Hi All

thanks for that work.

I made a small change, so that when imported the six levels will be sub-directories (sub-folders) under the main directory "New HSK". The updated file is attached. Otherwise you can just change the text file you have. Search "//New HSK Level" and replace with "//New HSK/Level". There should be six occurrances for six levels.

Kind Regards

PS of course, if you've already installed them, your device could probably let you create a new directory e.g. New HSK, and move the various levels to that one.

Sorry for a dumb question: is the new HSK linked in any way to the progress one made with old HSK? Do the scores transfer between sets?
With the old one I was up to 2 thousand characters learned. I was only learning the first 2 levels.
Now I've downloaded the new HSK and it seems the words are different in the basic levels. So, I guess it's like starting from scratch. Ive noticed that the words are more up-to-date, so I'm determined to stick to the new set.
Or should I alternate the sets? Like, use the old HSK to progress beyond the 2 thou... And come back to the new set at will...
Is this how others learn?
Regards
Peter

Yes, assuming you didn't delete the cards from the old HSK before importing the new ones, if it's the same word then there'll only be one "card" for it and the score data will transfer over.

Here's an updated flashcard file, based on the latest HSK word lists. Sometime at the end of 2012 Hanban updated the word lists that they publish, updated sample exams were also released. The 2012/2013 word lists differ by about 10% from the old (2010) lists. Not a big difference, but it means some words might slip through your studying if you don't use the latest lists.

Here's an in-depth analysis of the words in the old and new HSK: http://www.zhtoolkit.com/posts/2012/09/mapping-the-old-hsk-onto-new/

Apparently there is an Old->New score mapping, but I'm not sure of the methodology behind it: http://www.chinaeducenter.com/en/hsk/hsktestscore.php

If you want to examine where the Old HSK words fall in the New HSK, you could paste the old word lists into this tool on my site, and it will show you which words are in which New HSK level: http://www.hskhsk.com/analyse.html

Old topic, but exactly the question I had when sorting some old physical Tuttle flashcards: "What had changed since HSK 2010?"
Further to the previous post and thank you to the authors' for the excellent site resources:
The table linked below "shows the words in the New HSK 2010 that changed level when the word lists were revised in 2012 (also valid to date as of 2018)":
  • Where the HSK 2010 Characters are in 2012-2018
    • HSK 2010 Words that changed level in 2012-2018
    • HSK 2010 Words that didn't change level in 2012-2018
