I'm a little bit late (and a bit peeved as I was working with their 《現代漢語通用字表》for a project [edit: after a good night's sleep I realize that it won't be a tremendous obstacle]).

Here is the Chinese:

In a nutshell, instead of the character set for the PRC being the 7,008 characters of 《現代漢語通用字表》that was put in effect in 1988, there is a new list called《通用規範漢字表》which has 8,105 characters (in three parts). They have not reinstated any traditional characters heretofore simplified, but they have reinstated some characters formerly proscribed as variants.

Anything not in GB18030? (I assume not, but just reassuring myself this won't require any changes to our tricky-to-update Chinese fonts or handwriting recognizer templates)

If 18030 is the one with 30,000 characters, I guess not, but I am the wrong person to ask about encoding :)
