Audio not "fluent"

Hello,

I used to study my flashcards in my Ipad, and today I transfered my registration to na Iphone 4S.

The problem is when I tape to play an headword, the audio is somehow "pausing" between them.

For example: in Ipad it plays: "xiawu" and in Iphone it plays: "xia, wu" (dont know exactly what should I look in settings to fix this...)

Thanks

Download the "Extended Audio" add-ons in Add-ons / Purchased but not downloaded; that should help matters. If not, turn on "use TTS if no recording" in Settings / Audio.

Yep, particularly the optional 1 GB HQ versions of Hong and Qiang which are free if you own the basic ones :)

wish 1: in reader (epub), ability to change color of background ("highlighting") of selected text. this is an important feature to me since i look up a lot of words and currently the highlighting somewhat greys out the selected text, thus straining the reading. you could also consider making the (foreground) color of the selected text itself adjustable.

wish 2: this is a repeat wish. in the reader, the pop up definition is currently some 3 cm in height. without any design disruption i understand that it could be (screenheight-alittlesome)/2 high. on iphone x that would amount to some 6 cm. that would greatly enhance the experience when, as i, you are looking up words frequently, avoiding the need for scrolling inside the pop up.

On #1, the issue there is basically that we're wary of trying to change the color of text in HTML documents - overlaying the background is easier. (but might be more doable with our new minimal non-web-browser-based EPUB reader)

On #2, we're hoping to come up with a new text design for that screen too, but I'm a little wary of making it too big even if if theoretically can be because it'll take people out of their reading context more than the current bubble does; it's a lot harder to keep your place in a text if half of it is blocked every time you look up a word. I would like to speed up / streamline the transition to the full definition screen though.

I'd call it more of a design decision than a pedagogical one, actually - modal views that make you lose your place in whatever-you're-doing are usually considered a bad idea.

as long as the box could be somewhat bigger, maybe 60% so as to preserve enough of the "modal" context, that would be great.
