Enhancement request: disable audio pronunciation for a specific flashcard

Hi,

In an earlier thread I asked whether it's possible to stop the audio pronunciation of a flashcard once it had started (it's not possible). In a similar vein, it would be nice if I could mark a flashcard as "don't pronounce audio". Why? Lately I've been working with more material that has long set phrases, and it's annoying to listen to the TTS pronounce - in that stilted character-by-character pronunciation - the entire phrase.

There's the question of how to treat these cards for flashcard tests that have been configured to play audio. One option could simply be to warn the user before the test starts that the card pool contains one or more of these cards, and that the audio will not play for these cards.

Lastly, it would be nice to be able to mark cards as "no audio" in a flashcard file, perhaps by inserting a special character at the start of the card's pinyin section. (Yes, I still want the flashcard to contain the pinyin for the phrase). That said, the overall number of "no audio" cards would be relatively low compared to normal cards, so it wouldn't be too burdensome to mark these cards from within Pleco itself.

Thanks!

Reasonable enough request - another way to do this in the meantime would be to set up two different profiles, one for your shorter cards with audio and one for your longer ones without it. (use a Length Filter in Card Filters to separate them)

Thanks for the follow-up. I would also be happy with a (presumably) simpler solution: taking manual action to stop the pronunciation from continuing. For example, long pressing the audio icon to stop the recording would be fine by me (since the number of these cards is comparatively low, manual action wouldn't be too burdensome).

Thanks!
