Outlier Dictionary of Chinese Characters

The Yellowbridge etymology does not seem to go beyond the analysis of a character into components, which is already a part of pleco. This can certainly be useful, but I expect more than that from the outlier dictionary.

Yep. We're hoping to turn around the data in about a week, though we can't make any promises yet since we don't know what the final format will look like or when exactly it'll arrive, and at least for this initial version we should be supporting everything back to Pleco iOS 3.2.11 (requires iOS 7.1 or later) and Android 3.2.24 (requires Android 4.0 or later).

Out of curiosity (though not to get greedy), is there a possibility of other, potentially more-academic etymology dictionaries making their way to Pleco? Given the nature of the content, I'm a bit wary (perhaps unjustifiably) that someone without extensive training in paleography, historical linguistics, etc. will get things fully right. And there do seem to be a few interesting etymological dictionaries already out there, e.g. Axel Schuessler's 2007 ABC Etymological Dictionary of Old Chinese. (Probably a rather niche market, and maybe not worth the effort of accommodating all the odd characters, diacritics, etc, but still...)

Have considered that, yes - would make more sense once we have our Web Reader function working on Android since then we can integrate the web page content back into Pleco (tapping on words to them up in a Pleco pop up).

Yep. The 'mini edition' initially came up as a way to work around challenges with Apple store policies - it's not really viable to sell a preorder of something as an in-app purchase - but eventually we kind of settled on the idea that this would actually be an interesting product in its own right :) And we've now established through the Tuttle upgrade that discounted upgrades work + don't raise any hackles at Apple + are something users are generally very receptive to, so we think that we'll end up generating a lot of extra sales of the full editions this way too.

That's TBD, most likely will work with next minor updates on iOS + Android - that minor iOS update will require iOS 9, however. (but there's not really any good reason not to upgrade to that from iOS 8 - every iOS 8 device also supports iOS 9, iOS 9 is generally more stable / secure and even a bit faster and has already been thoroughly jailbroken)
